Agrobiodiversity against climate change.

Evolution of agriculture & food productionbased onimproved traditional agrobiodiversity, basically food providing elements,as answer on a future climate change.

Introduction

Agrobiodiversity (AB), diversity of traditional agricultural sorts and breedsof domestic animals,is base of agriculture and food production. AB has been developed during human historyas answer on historical climate changes and food providing necessary& certainty. Producers have permanently developed and selected models of sorts & breeds adopted for new climate and other circumstances& wishes. Today, under pressure of industrial agriculture, traditional AB is disappearing, but is also principally not recognised, even forbidden, by low in high regulated society as EU, USA, Japan and other.

Lack of traditional AB elements, same as lack of knowledge & possibility for food producing, combined with expected climate changes (CC), can consequently lead human civilisation firstly to important food prices growth, lead some parts of world to extreme hungry and, finally, to global high-tech biotechnology food producing, as process completely or highly separated from ecosystems. Thisscenario option, transfer us to global pseudo-food society (PFS),society leaded by few global corporations, with monopoly on food production, owned by new class leaders. Finally, PFS transfer us to neo-feudal society (NFS).

Therefore, one of important segment of working group for Food & Agriculture, beside other improving food production systems (melioration models, protection models ...), should be work on recognising and improving of regional, national and local agrobiodiversity. This work should include: strategy, research methodology, data bases creation, production & conservation models, legal basis improving, skills transferring, education, promotion and publishing.

Expected results on food providing according to CCon regional, national and local level are:

  • strategy:    definition and implementation
  • expert groups:  forming and sustainablecooperating in future
  • data bases:  on agrobiodiversity; traditional food products& producers
  • operating models:  on production & conservation models
  • workshops:   skills in food production
  • lectures:  Agrobiodiversity against climate change
  • public meetings: Agrobiodiversity against climate change
  • publications:  Agrobiodiversity against climate change
